What a dream weekend at the European children champioships in the Zilveren Spoor in Moorsele. Not only did Jos win the silver with the team but also the bronze medal as individual.
All four riders, Vicky Van De Poel (Whisper) Valerie Vleugels (Manienka) Victoire Delforge (Tina Des Papillons) and Jos (Tia Maria) jumped perfect clear rounds in the first qualification on friday. It was the same story on saturday, all four riders clear in the first round of the nations cup and went into the lead together with Great Britain and Germany.
Jos lead the way in the second round and jumping a nice clear, but was just outside the time allowed and had an expensive 1 time fault. Victoire had an unlucky rail for 4 faults and Valerie had 5 faults. Vicky and Whisper jumped a nice clear round. Great Britain won Gold on 4 faults, silver for Belgium with 5 faults and after an exiting jump-off between France and Turkey, France got the Bronze Medal.
There was no rest day and no time to celebrate the silver medal, it was straight back to work for the individual final on sunday. All five Belgians including Gauthier Merciener who rode as individual rider qualified for the individual final.
After the first round Jos and Vicky were clear, but Jos was on 1 fault putting him in 6th place after the clear rounds. For the final round, course designer Henk Jan Drabbe set a complete new course, nine jumps, it was technical, high and delicate. There were alot of faults, Jos and Tia jumped clear, Vicky had an unlucky rail.
There were only two clears, putting Jos into Bronze position. There was a jump-off for the gold and zilver medals between the Swiss rider Larissa Notz (Sjarlotte) and the Hungarian Burucs Barna (Mamma Mya). Larissa jumped a fast clear and Burucs had a rail giving Larissa the gold medal.
Jos won the class together with Larissa and Burucs, the only three double clears.
Congratulations to all the team for a fantasic weekend
Thanks to the family Van Geenberghe for a great event and thanks to the supporters and friends who traveled all the way to Moorsele and made it all so special.
