Harrie Smolders and Regina Z gained eight points with there 9th place in the Rolex World Cup qualifier at Zurich International Horse Show . Harrie has a total of 42 points and is lying in 11th place on the Western Eurpoean League standings with only two qualifiers still to go. Harrie will ride Exquis Walnut de Muze in the world cup qualifier at Bordeaux next weekend. By riding Walnut next weekend, this will give Harrie the choice between Regina, Oliver and Walnut for the final to be held at s'Hertogenbosch, Nederland at the end of April.
Harrie's new ride in Zurich was Brillante (Heureka de Loge x Oberon du Moulin). She has a background that is a little different than that of her fellow competitors. The 11 year old BWP-mare made her five star debut in Zürich after spending most of her life as a mother; Brillante has had six foals before she turned her head to the international showjumping circuit with Harrie – her last foal came in 2011 and was by Emerald (Diamant de Semilly x Carthago). Brillante has been ridden between her five foals, but this was Harrie’s first show with the mare, Jos Verlooy has been riding her for the last six months at national shows before Harrie took over the reins only a week ago. Brillante jumped great and only had one fence down as well as two time penalties over the three days.
