AA Drink rider Harrie Smolders and Exquis Walnut De Muze took home the Grand Premio de Madrid. The five star Grand Prix had forty starters, but only four of them remained clear to move on to the jump-off. Three of these riders managed to produce yet another clear round; Harrie on Exquis Walnut de Muze, John Whitaker on his promising ride Maximillian and Eric Lamaze on Verdi. Harrie was by far the fastest, and left John almost a second behind him in second and Eric in third.
